The moons crashing together was a catastrophe. Everywhere on the planets surface, people were screaming and crying, running helplessly for their lives. Chunks of Luos and Matrimos were caught in the planets pull, and spun downward like flaming spearheads onto the world below. The sky was orange with the falling moonrock, and chunks hurtled in every direction; hitting buildings, forests and the aliens who owned them.
At the same time, memories played. The days when Laef had destroyed whole worlds like this with his sword. The day Laef met Mias, on that foul city world. The days when he broke away from the group to explore the Armada homeworld, getting closer their secrets as well as The Mirrors. The day Laef watched Gemrit and Classius die, while Mias died alone in a crater. And the day Laef destroyed Kotamayu as the LaefBeast, tearing the Gods body apart with his own hands.
"Do you think he'll be back?" Laef asked, sitting quietly as the destruction rained all around him. His glowing green eyes watched the sky, but Laef's human eye was fixated on his hand. "Huh? Of course he will." Krayden answered, snapping out of deep thought. "He's a snake. He'll be back." "I betrayed him." A rock whizzed past the two, hitting the ground nearby. "Hey... Of course you did." Krayden answered, eyebrows raised. "So did I. So did Kait. We don't care. You shouldn't either."
The planet, Hualdios, shook as a giant piece of planetoid smacked into its side. An ocean of sound and fire swept out in all directions; while Laef and Krayden watched from the safety of a mountain on the horizon. The two had come specifically to watch the planet die, although neither had really suggested it.
"Krayden." Laef started. "No, kid. What Kotamayu did to us was wrong. It's no 'gift' being able to sit here and watch millions of people die, okay? The real gift is being back home on Earth, where we'da lived and died with our happiness. " Laef sighed thoughtfully. "Its not too late." "T'what?" Krayden smirked grimfully. "Go home?"
"Its FAR too late to go home." For the first time in 200 years, Kraydens mind wasn't on his wife when he said that.
for some reason, this piece (inclusive of the story with it, of course) really seems to be one of your best (in this series) so far. Despite the fact that it is simply a picture of Laef, and no other obvious interest points than him, it really is well done. The shading, the way the light falls, and the colours all fit extremely well. I particularly (go figure) like his jacket - it looks....solid. Or something like that. *shrugs* I really do like it. Your writing could use a little improvement though - grammar for the most part. And I believe 'grimly' is the correct form of the word, as opposed to 'grimfully' although either one works. And no, 'grimfully' is not a really word. You get to use it though, since I didn't even notice the incorrectness of it until someone drew attention to it. good stuff!

(final version of comment, hacked to under 45 words, not including this)
I think the flow of the Kotamayu stories, fractured as they are, is one of the greatest strengths of the series. In the fragmented way it is presented, the story works in a very specifically. I appreciate that aspect of the series.

I just realized that part of my simplifying of this comment destroyed my correct grammar. "Specific way" instead of "specifically" in the second to last sentence.

Daily Literature Deviations is a group that is dedicated to bringing literature to the forefront of the deviantArt community. We attempt to accomplish this by daily featuring Literature artists from around the community that deserve the recognition, but are not getting it.
Each day we will feature 10 deviations from the Literature categories in a News Article. In order to support the artists that we feature, we ask that you the news article as well as check out the individual pieces. We understand that each day you may not be able to check out each and every one of the pieces, everyone has their own things going on. We just ask that you make an attempt to help support the growing Literature community.
When it comes to community spirit, `Rushy is a shining example. From participating in devmeets, to providing positive encouragement to other artists, `Rushy can always be found demonstrating what it really takes to be a true deviant. It's without any hesitation that we are delighted to award the Deviousness Award for July 2009 to `RushyRead More
